I have never been able to keep a secret. So, of course, when something as big and awesome as getting engaged happened, it only took a few hours before I was unable to keep my big trap shut.
Perhaps that wasn't a splendid idea.
On the other hand...why not! :-) This will only happen once in my life, and I think everything about this whole process (all 2 days of it) has been amazing and completely surreal.
I am beginning to think having a background in event planning is almost acting as a disadvantage at this point. The Planner part of me has of course a few e-mails in my inbox regarding DJ's, venues and catering menus. The Planner wants to get a date, look at venues and work on the guest list. This is very easy to do when you are working with someone else's budget and your personal feelings are not involved.
The Bride (wow...that sounds weird) side of me wants to cry at the idea of how crazily expensive venues are in this area and how immediately a spending freeze needs to be instituted.
So, my first lesson to myself is this: SLOW. DOWN!
There is no reason at all why I need to be worried about a single, solitary thing at this point. Steve and I are young, we're in love and we are so happy. So, why get stressed out on day 2? It's gonna be a long 700+ days if I don't just slow down.
I'm going to spend the next few months focusing on HAVING FUN with this process and not worrying about all the other stuff, that will eventually, like all else, fall into place. Obviously, not on it's own, but, will fall into place nonetheless. :-)
I'm looking forward to enjoying a relaxing weekend with my fiance and our friends.
I will resist all urges to attend the wedding expos happening this weekend too.
....uh....;-)

Great idea about slowing down. You have so much time. Oh, and I am very much a people person and love big events but the bridal shows i went to were not fun. The venders treat you like fresh meat. I went to one way to early and they made me feel like i would never get a limo, venu, photographer, blah blah blah, if i didn't book it that day. So, if you "accidently" end up at one be sure to go in and just collect info and business cards. And of course, drink the wine you overpay for with your entry fee!
haha...i just re-read my post. My fingers were way ahead of my brain. please excuse my many typos! I promise, i have a brain.
haha! Thanks Brandi!! Yeah, I figure I'll just go on a date with my fiance instead of wasting $15 being preyed on. Thanks for the reinforcement!
