Puerto Rico Plans and Registry

In my own defense, I did promise to post only when something was actually happening...so, something is actually happening!

Quick recap:
1.) Victoria, our planner, has been working really hard driving all around the island looking for ceremony and reception venues. We decided not to do the Catholic Mass (mostly because nobody else in my family is Catholic!) My amazing uncle who is ordained in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church is going to officiate and we are so excited!

2.) We have finally narrowed down to ONE location--Hotel Cielo Mar The price is unbeatable, the location is very close to where family on the island already live, the view is astounding, etc. Keeping fingers crossed that the contract is what we are looking for! Our plan is to book by the end of August.

3.) This weekend, I'm heading to Ohio so that I can go bridesmaid dress shopping with my younger sister (and co-maid of honor), and my besties Amanda and Toni. My aunt and mom are coming along too. Since I bought my dress here and with my older sister, I'm taking my dress with me so that I can show them and hopefully they'll love it as much as I do. Since we're already crossing fingers, let's cross our fingers for that too?

Other than that, just still thinking of some good themes and centerpiece ideas, tweaking our Save The Date that we plan to send electronically around the middle of October. 12 full months for our guests to get in line.

A girlfriend of mine who is getting married next month was talking to me about registering for the wedding. *sigh* I gotta say...I hate this idea. I feel like we are basically already asking a lot of our guests ("Hi...go on vacation...") and to also say "oh, and buy us stuff," is just a burden I do not want to put onto anyone. But, a lot of my bride friends have said this is still a good idea, especially for those who can't make it, but still want to get us something. I don't know.

I started playing around with Target s Club Wedd yesterday. I added some things that I thought would be fun to have (basically stuff to start a bar with). We already have the things we really need, and we've gone through about the 2nd generation of those items as well (moving up from just starting out to better established), so we really don't need that much. We need big things...like a king sized bed. Or a nice couch. How do you register and say "So, you can't spend $500 to come to Puerto Rico? Well, you can buy us a bed instead?"

Ah well.

I guess these little things will work themselves out :-)

Yay yay yay! So exciting that plans are coming together!

For sure register! People that can't make the trip will still want to get you a gift! It's nothing you should feel "guilty" about. That's part of getting married. People buy gifts to congratulate you.

I still think you should Skype the wedding!!
